The Requirement

Electronics for Demanding Medical Applications

Medical device electronics often remain in service for extended product lifecycles, making component stability, availability and change control critical. Displays must maintain the required readability, compute platforms must support the device’s regulatory requirements, and power solutions must be selected with applicable certifications and long-term support in mind.

What matters is not the individual component but a precisely coordinated system that stays stable, serviceable and available over the long term. FORTEC US engineers and manufactures all three as one system: optically bonded display assemblies, embedded computing and power, with antibacterial touch films, chemically resistant cover glass, IP65-rated options for devices that are cleaned down, resistive or PCAP touch configured for requirements including gloves, saltwater, blood exposure and challenging electromagnetic environments, and fanless designs where airflow is restricted. Edge AI is increasingly part of that system, processing imaging and monitoring data on the device itself, and our guide to choosing an edge AI computer for a medical device explains how all of it is specified together.

Consumer hardware changes silhouette every eighteen months, and on a medical device that is not a cost saving but a re-validation. Industrial and embedded product lines run on a different clock: extended availability, controlled change notification and documentation that helps teams understand what changed and when. Readability is the other half of it: VacuBond® optical bonding, a state-of-the-art bonding process developed by FORTEC, eliminates the air gap between the display and cover glass, reducing internal reflections and helping protect against condensation and vibration. Our Prisma display controllers drive 10-bit panels up to 4096x2160, with automatic color calibration for consistent image review.

Working With Us

Why Is FORTEC US the Right Partner?

  • We engage at specification, well before the purchase order.
  • Nearly four decades of display engineering experience supporting demanding OEM applications.
  • Cleanable surfaces, glove-compatible touch and optical bonding specified to the device, not the catalog.
  • Display, embedded computing and power are engineered as one integrated assembly, with documentation to support program and submission requirements.
  • Controlled change notification and obsolescence management to help teams plan for component changes and potential re-validation.
