How to Care for Touch Screens
September 25, 2020
Touch screens are one of the most helpful and innovative creations from the modern age of technology; at least we think so. The benefits of using touch screens, whether personally or professionally, are endless! They’re also meant to be used often, and you probably have touched your favorite touch screen, your smartphone, at least once in the last hour.
It makes perfect sense that something we use so frequently, probably more than you even realize, should be treated with extra care and precaution.
Here are the steps you should take to make sure you’re protecting and taking proper care of your touch screen devices:
Clean Carefully and Frequently
To clean the glass screen, you’ll want to clean carefully and use something delicate, like a non-abrasive cleanser and soft, cotton cloth. As we mentioned before, touchscreens are meant to be used and touched repeatedly, so make sure to give the screen a good cleaning periodically to avoid transmission of germs and bacteria.
Watch Your Nails
Touch screens are designed for fingers, not nails! Whether you’re swiping, tapping, or cleaning something off the screen, avoid using your nails as the glass can be easily scratched.
Avoid Heavy Pressing
Touch screen technology is designed to be very sensitive to your touch! It can easily detect your finger’s presence and doesn’t need to be pushed with heavy pressure; otherwise, damage can occur.
Avoid Direct Sunlight
Prolonged sun exposure can be very dangerous to screens; they weren’t designed to withstand intense heat, on top of the heat it already emits. It’s possible that serious, irreversible, damage can occur if exposed to the sun for too long.
Use a Protective Case
If the touch screen is able to, use a protective case that fits properly. In the event that the screen is dropped, damage will likely either be minimized or stopped altogether because of the case. Accidents happen, and it’s always best to be prepared!
