How to Keep Your Businesses Touch Screens Clean
February 25, 2021
Touch screens have proven themselves to be an instrumental piece of technology in various settings, one of them being businesses! Whether you’re operating a small, local store or a big corporation, your day-to-day operations touch screens help your business run smoother, more efficiently and make employees and customers happy.
Because of how helpful they are, touch screens are meant to be used consistently by many individuals. Like any item or surface that is touched frequently, it should be cleaned and appropriately sanitized regularly. Touch screens, however, are fragile and need to be cleaned with care with the right tools.
Here are some tips to help ensure you are cleaning your touch screens safely and effectively:
Power Off
Before you begin cleaning, it’s essential you unplug the device from any electrical source and power it off. This will help reduce any risks and eliminate any residual static electricity that can shock you or cause damage to the device.
Use a Proper Cleaning Spray
Be sure to use a proper disinfecting cleaning spray to achieve a nice clean surface and kill any germs or bacteria. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the screen, but rather on your cloth, to avoid any cleaner seeping into cracks and corners, therefore causing internal damage. Never use any ammonia-based glass cleaners on your touch screen because they can cause screen damage and discoloration.
Use The Right Cloth
Be cautious of the material you use to clean the glass. Paper towels, napkins, tissues, or rough materials can create tiny scratches across the screen. When cleaning and drying your device, you want to use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to wipe the surface gently.
Circular Motions
As you clean with your cloth and disinfectant, apply only slight and gentle pressure to avoid accidental damage. Also, wipe the screen in circular motions to prevent streaking and get rid of any dirt, residue, or germs to achieve the best clean possible.
Wait Till It’s Dry
Once the device is thoroughly disinfected and cleaned to your liking, make sure it’s completely dry, and then turn it back on or plug it back into its power source.
Sanitize Often
It’s important to sanitize your touch screens and other frequently touched surfaces as often as possible to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Take into consideration how many people are touching the device and when, and try to keep it clean after every person touches, if possible.
