What Does an Embedded-to-Device Partnership Offer MedTech OEMs?
July 3, 2025
An embedded-to-device partnership lets a MedTech OEM take a product from embedded hardware to a fully developed device with one coordinated team instead of several suppliers. That is the aim of the partnership between FORTEC Integrated, our sister company in Germering, Germany, and the product development company Zühlke. After completing a joint project in the MedTech sector, the two expanded their collaboration in July 2025 into an end-to-end offer that spans custom embedded carrier boards, IoT applications and fully integrated system solutions.
What does each partner bring?
Hardware on one side, product development on the other:
- FORTEC Integrated brings core capabilities in embedded computing, display technologies and power supplies, with support in project management, R&D capacity and logistics, and an extensive product portfolio.
- Zühlke brings decades of experience developing products and digital solutions from initial concept to market readiness, with a track record in managing regulatory requirements, user experience and complex technical delivery, particularly for OEMs in high-stakes industries.
“In regulated and technically demanding industries like MedTech, customers benefit from our combined strengths in hardware and software development.”
Matthias Keller, Managing Director, FORTEC Integrated
Which industries is the partnership aimed at?
MedTech first, along with industrial automation, transport and logistics, and retail. The goal in each is the same: to make it easier for clients to turn ideas into finished solutions, with coordinated processes, solid quality management and a single, trusted point of contact.
What does it mean for a US medical device OEM?
In the US, that single point of contact is us. Medical devices stay in service for long product lifecycles, so component stability, availability and change control matter as much as the specification. At FORTEC US we engineer and manufacture the display, the embedded computing and the power as one system for medical devices: optically bonded display assemblies, antibacterial touch films, chemically resistant cover glass, IP65-rated options for devices that are cleaned down, and fanless designs where airflow is restricted. If edge AI is part of the device, our guide on how to choose an edge AI computer for a medical device covers how that platform is specified.
When a project needs development beyond what we do in house in Ronkonkoma, it goes to the FORTEC Group company best suited to it, and we deliver it to you as one project.
Tell us what your device has to do and where it has to work, and we will take it from there. We recommend the right combination of display, computer and power, handle the integration and the sourcing, and stay with the project from first samples to series production. Contact FORTEC US.
