Toppan Ends ORTUSTECH LCD Production: Last-Time Buy Closes End of October 2026
October 1, 2026
ORTUSTECH displays are reaching end of life: Toppan is ending production of its LCD displays, including the industrial TFT displays sold under the ORTUSTECH brand. The last-time buy window closes at the end of October 2026, and March 2028 is the last date Toppan will ship to us. If an ORTUSTECH display is designed into a product you still build, now is the time to secure stock and plan the replacement.
Which displays are affected?
The announcement covers Toppan’s LCD display production as a whole, which includes the full ORTUSTECH range. ORTUSTECH was formed in 2010 from the display units of CASIO and Toppan and is known for small and medium TFT displays built for difficult conditions: sunlight-readable and transflective panels, wide operating temperature ranges and very low power consumption. Toppan positions them for outdoor and battery-powered portable equipment, and for industrial, factory automation, medical and avionics applications, where long product lifecycles are normal.
Which ORTUSTECH part numbers are affected?
Every ORTUSTECH display is covered. These are the ORTUSTECH part numbers listed on our site that carry the last-time buy notice, by screen size:
- 2.2″: COM22H2P22DLC
- 2.4″: COM24H2P71ULC
- 2.7″: COM27H2P41UTC, COM27H2P64UTC, COM27H2P86ULC
- 3.2″: COM32H3P68ULC, COM32H3P71ULC
- 3.5″: COM35H3P05XTC, COM35H3P42ULC, COM35H3P45UTC, COM35H3P58ULC, COM35H3P70ULC, COM35H3R12ULC
- 3.7″: COM37H3P47UTC
- 4.1″: COM41H4N08XLC
- 4.3″: COM43H4N03XTC, COM43H4N44ULC, COM43H4N66ULC, COM43H4N90ULC, COM43H4N91UTC

- 7.0″: COM70H7M24ULC, COM70H7M40ULC
- 10.4″: COM104H9M25SSS
If your part number is not listed here, it is still affected. Send it to us and we will check it.
What are the key dates?
- Last-time buy: orders must be placed by the end of October 2026.
- Final shipments: March 2028 is the last date Toppan will ship to us.
After the last-time buy closes, no new orders can be placed. Any demand beyond that date has to be covered by stock bought now or by a qualified replacement.
What should OEMs using ORTUSTECH displays do now?
Start with the bill of materials. List every ORTUSTECH part number in active and service products, then estimate how many units each will need for the rest of its production life and its spare parts commitment.
From there, there are two paths, and most products need both:
- A last-time buy, sized to cover production and service until a replacement is qualified. The window is short, so this decision cannot wait for the redesign.
- A replacement display. A true drop-in matches the outline, mounting, connector, pinout and interface, as well as brightness, readability and temperature range. Transflective and sunlight-readable panels are the hardest to match, because the optical performance is what the product was designed around.
Where no drop-in exists, the gap is usually closed with a compatible display plus an interface board, or changes to the mechanics or firmware. Qualifying that takes time, which is why the last-time buy matters even when a replacement is already in view.
What does moving to a replacement display involve?
Very little on your side, because we do the work. Our engineers act as your advisor through the whole transition, from the first part number to series production:
- You send us the ORTUSTECH part number and tell us about the product it goes into. That is all we need to start. Datasheets and drawings help if you have them.
- We find the candidates. We shortlist displays against the original’s size, resolution, outline, mounting, interface, brightness and temperature range, and tell you plainly where any gap would be.
- We close the gaps. Where a candidate differs, our engineers develop the interface board, the mechanical or electrical customization, or the firmware change that makes it fit.
- We deliver samples for your approval. You test them in your device, we work in any changes, and we move to series production once every requirement is met.
Your part is approving the replacement in your product. The engineering, sourcing and logistics are ours.
Replacing a sunlight-readable display
Many ORTUSTECH displays use Toppan’s Blanview™ transflective technology, which reflects ambient light to stay readable in sunlight while drawing little power. If the replacement is a standard transmissive panel, we can recover that readability in two ways, and they work well together:
- Optical bonding. Bonding the display to its cover glass or touch screen removes the air gap, which cuts reflections and raises contrast without increasing power consumption.
- Backlight enhancement. Our engineers can design a backlight brighter than the panel manufacturer offers, and a brightness sensor with our TFT controllers can dim it to match the ambient light, saving power and extending backlight life.
A brighter backlight still draws more power than a transflective panel, so on battery-powered devices this is worth weighing early. Where a transflective alternative fits, it remains the closest match.
How can FORTEC US help?
FORTEC US offers ORTUSTECH displays, backed by the FORTEC Group’s supply network, so customers can keep sourcing what they need to continue design and manufacturing. Obsolescence management is a core part of what we do. For customers affected by this announcement, our engineers can:
- Review your affected part numbers and help size a last-time buy.
- Hold stock for time-sensitive components so supply continues through the transition.
- Identify drop-in replacements or compatible displays.
- Customize displays mechanically or electrically, and modify software and firmware, so a replacement fits your system.
A display change is also a natural point to look at the rest of the design. Because FORTEC combines TFT display modules, embedded computing and power supplies, we can support a redesign as an integrated solution rather than a single part swap.
Using ORTUSTECH displays? Talk to us
Whether you want to place a last-time buy before the end of October or need a replacement for a product already in the field, contact our engineers with your part numbers and expected volumes. Before the deadline, we can help you secure stock as well as plan the replacement. After it, we can still move your product to a new display.
