Where Can You See FORTEC Products at Trade Shows?

March 18, 2020

The FORTEC Group shows its products at European trade fairs such as embedded world and sps ipc drives in Nuremberg and Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) in Amsterdam, and publishes its upcoming dates in the FORTEC Group trade fair calendar. For engineers in North America, the quicker route to the same hardware is through us at FORTEC US in Ronkonkoma, New York: tell us what you are building, and we recommend the products and supply first samples for testing in your own device.

What does the Group demonstrate at its stands?

Things that are easier to judge in person than on a datasheet. One example is a half-bonded TFT display: one half optically bonded with VacuBond®, the other not, so visitors see directly how much better the bonded half reads because it reflects less light. The same stands have shown custom PCAP touch designs, with glass shapes, prints and thicknesses produced to the customer’s requirements so the touchscreen fits the application. In the US, we do VacuBond® bonding in house in Ronkonkoma; our page on optical bonding explains the process, and what VacuBond technology is covers the method in more depth.

Which monitors has the Group launched at trade fairs?

Mostly industrial monitors from FORTEC Integrated, our sister company in Germany, built for public spaces and bright environments:

  • Smoke and fire load optimized monitors for areas with strict fire regulations. Because there was no suitable standard for monitors, they were tested to DIN EN 13501-1, the classification for building products, and met class B-s1, d0 in all categories, the best level in the “difficult to ignite” class. They came in sizes from 31.5 to 54.6 inches. Later fire protection monitors went further, to class A1: read why public buildings need fire protection class A1 monitors.
  • Multi-touch POS-Line monitors with up to 10 touch points, from 10.4 to 65 inches, for gesture operation. A second generation from 10.4 to 24 inches added an aluminum frame that made the monitors significantly lighter.
  • High-bright monitors with a backlight of up to 2,500 cd/m² for high ambient light, in 31.5 and 54.6 inches. To protect the panel, they monitor their temperature and step the brightness down automatically if it climbs too high or if ambient light falls. A removable PC box with an Intel Core i3 or i5 was available as an option.
  • Large POS-Line monitors with PCAP multi-touch in a true flat design, at 31.5 and 42 inches, and a 64.7-inch model, the largest in the series at the time.

Specific models from those launches may since have been replaced. For the current range, see our POS-Line modular monitors.

Does the Group still exhibit when conditions are difficult?

It has. In 2020, as a growing list of companies canceled their participation in embedded world in Nuremberg at short notice over COVID-19, FORTEC Integrated kept its stand, judging the organizer’s prevention measures sufficient and out of respect for visitors’ travel plans.

How can US engineers evaluate the same products?

Through us, without waiting for a show. We supply the products of the FORTEC Group in the US and Canada, from standard products to completely customer-specific solutions, and we design and manufacture display assemblies in Ronkonkoma. After the design release, we produce and deliver first samples, take change requests into account for the pilot series, and start series production once every requirement is met.

Tell us where your design has to work, and we will take it from there. We recommend the right combination of display, computer and power, handle the integration and the sourcing, and stay with the project from first samples to series production through our technical services. Contact FORTEC US.
