What Is the XTRA-Line, and Where Do 27-Inch 4K and 37-Inch Bar Displays Fit?
February 28, 2025
XTRA-Line is FORTEC Integrated’s family of monitors for installations where a standard monitor does not fit, either because the space is shallow or narrow or because the content needs an unusual format. Two models cover most projects: the XTRA-Line 27 Smart Design, a 27-inch 4K touch monitor for medical and industrial use, and the Xtra-Line 37 Bartype, a wide-format display for information and advertising. FORTEC Integrated is our sister company in the FORTEC Group, and we supply, integrate, and support XTRA-Line from Ronkonkoma, New York.
What is the XTRA-Line 27 4K?
A 27-inch 4K touch monitor with a frameless, sealed front, built for medical and industrial interfaces. The XTRA-Line 27 Smart Design pairs a 3840 x 2160 panel with 10-point PCAP touch behind a 3 mm TrueFlat glass:
- Brightness: 350 cd/m².
- Depth: 19 mm, or 43 mm at the controller.
- Front protection: IP65 against dust and water when installed in a wall.
- Inputs: HDMI and DisplayPort, with USB-B for the touch.
- Power: 12 V.
The 4K resolution shows the fine detail that medical imaging and industrial quality control depend on, and the frameless front is easy to clean, which matters most in medical settings. The earlier Full HD Xtra-Line 27 models are discontinued.
Where does a 37-inch bar type display fit?
Wherever there is no room for a standard monitor, or the content suits a long, narrow format: arrival and departure times for buses and trains, menus in canteens and restaurants, and continuous advertising. The Xtra-Line 37 works in landscape or portrait, and its 89° viewing angle from all directions keeps content readable for people walking past or looking up at a screen mounted above head height. It can be wall-mounted or built into an information panel or a design element, with mounting brackets, a cable cover, a wall mount, safety glass, and a front bezel available as accessories.
The current versions run at 700 cd/m² and differ in what drives the screen:
- Xtra-Line 37 IoT 700 Bartype, with an integrated Raspberry® Pi IoT controller (CM3+), suited to Industry 4.0 applications.
- Xtra-Line 37 PME 700 Bartype, with our in-house PrismaMEDIA-eco controller and VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs for an external source.
- Xtra-Line 37 WebPoster M3 700 Bartype, with the WebPoster M3 website player, which shows websites in kiosk mode.
The 2500 cd/m² versions built for direct sunlight are discontinued. For a bar display that has to stay readable in the sun, tell us the conditions and we will recommend one.
What else carries the XTRA-Line name?
A series of industrial touch monitors that run on a single USB-C cable: the XTRA-Line iPPL-W156, iPPL-W215, and iPPL-W270, in 15.6, 21.5, and 27 inches. Each has 10-finger PCAP touch, automatic dimming, an IP65 front with an IP54 body, and a wide 12 to 24 V DC input as an alternative to USB-C power.
How do we take an XTRA-Line project from here?
Tell us where the display has to fit and what it has to show, and we will take it from there. We recommend the model and controller, integrate the computer and mounting, and stay with the project from first samples to series production. When a part receives an end-of-life notice, we tell our customers early and plan with them: a last-time buy or a qualified replacement before supply runs out. Contact FORTEC US to start.
