Why Did the FORTEC Group Companies Change Their Names?

March 26, 2024

Between 2023 and 2024, every company in the FORTEC Group took the FORTEC name. For us, that meant Apollo Display Technologies became FORTEC United States, or FORTEC US, on Jul 1, 2024. What that change means for Apollo customers is on our Apollo is now FORTEC US page. This post covers why the Group made the change and which other companies were renamed.

Why did the FORTEC Group move to one brand?

To bring the FORTEC Group’s companies under one brand. In July 2023, the Group established uniform corporate brands for its subsidiaries, so that its full range of display technology, embedded systems and power supplies is offered under one name. The Group described this as growing together “on the way to FORTEC One”. Our name change in 2024 was the US step in that process, and we changed our logo at the same time to match the corporate brand.

What changed for customers?

Only the way you reach us:

  • Company name: Apollo Display Technologies is now FORTEC United States.
  • Email: addresses moved from the apollodisplays.com domain to firstname.lastname@fortec.us.
  • Website: apollodisplays.com is now fortec.us.

Your contacts, our company address and our products stayed the same. We still design and manufacture in Ronkonkoma, with design and development, VacuBond® optical bonding, touch integration and production all under one ISO 9001:2015 registered quality system (Certificate No. US3606).

Which other FORTEC companies changed their names?

Every company in the Group now carries the FORTEC name. Distec GmbH in Germering, Germany, the Group’s display, touch and embedded specialist, began operating under the FORTEC Integrated brand on Jul 3, 2023, and changed its legal name to FORTEC Integrated GmbH in 2024. The others, with their former names:

  • FORTEC Technology UK Ltd., formerly Display Technology Ltd., founded in 2001.
  • FORTEC Switzerland AG, formerly ALTRAC AG, a manufacturer of power supplies and displays since 1979.
  • FORTEC Czech Republic s.r.o., formerly Alltronic s.r.o., in Dýšina near Pilsen.
  • FORTEC Benelux in the Netherlands, formerly Nottrot B.V., the newest company in the Group.

The parent company, FORTEC Elektronik AG, is based in Germering near Munich, and the Group has locations in seven countries. The full list is on our FORTEC Group company network page.

How has the Group changed for US customers since then?

It has built more of its production around the US market. In April 2025, the Group announced a production strategy for European companies with US customers that combines local manufacturing in the United States with pre-assembly of electronic components in Egypt. A geographically diversified production network and local warehousing help guard against sudden tariff changes and trade disruptions, shorten delivery times, and keep cost structures transparent. In 2026, the Group also gave each region more decision-making authority, and Paul Hooper joined FORTEC US as President alongside Managing Director Scott Makboulian. Read more in who leads FORTEC US.

Tell us where your next design has to work, and we will take it from there. We recommend the right combination of display, computer and power, handle the integration and the sourcing, and stay with the project from first samples to series production. Contact FORTEC US.
