How Do You Add Bluetooth to an Embedded Display Product?
May 11, 2016
With a compact Bluetooth module that carries its own antenna and arrives with its radio regulatory approvals in place, so the wireless design does not have to start from scratch. In 2016 the FORTEC Group introduced Hosiden’s Bluetooth® Smart Module HRM1026, a Bluetooth 4.1 module, for exactly that job. The HRM1026 is now discontinued. This page keeps its details on record for designs that use it.
What did the HRM1026 offer?
A very small footprint with a strong radio. Its built-in high-performance antenna reached transmission distances of up to 80 m (262 ft) in tests, while power consumption stayed extremely low, which suited portable devices where size, weight and battery life matter most.
- Dimensions of 9 × 15.5 × 1.9 mm.
- Output power of typically +4 dBm.
- UART, SPI, I²C and GPIO interfaces.
- All relevant tests and certifications passed, with the radio regulatory approvals available.
- The HRM1029 evaluation board for application software development, with a software development kit and programming tools from the chip manufacturer.
Where was it used?
In industrial electronics for measuring and monitoring, in home automation and in health products, wherever a compact, low-power wireless link had to fit inside the device.
What if a product still uses the HRM1026?
Plan the change before stock runs out. When a part reaches end of life, we tell the customer early and plan with them: a last-time buy to cover the remaining builds, or qualifying a replacement before supply ends. Our obsolescence management page describes how we work, and our guide on how to plan for component obsolescence before it becomes a problem covers the steps on the design side.
Tell us what the product has to connect to and where it has to work, and we will take it from there. Display, embedded and power expertise sit under one roof at FORTEC, so one team is accountable for the whole assembly, from first samples to series production, backed by our technical services.
